1st Phase: Consultancy Services for Non-Revenue Water Reduction and Operational Capacity Strengthening

Project tasks were as follows:

TASK A: Mapping of distribution network

TASK B: Verification and final establishment of pressure zones, hydraulic modeling and bulk metering

TASK C: Leak detection campaign, district metering and selective pipe replacement

TASK D: Implementation of SCADA system

TASK E: Improvement of water treatment plant

TASK F: Institutional strengthening and training

TASK G: Supervision of construction and installation works

     TASK H: An additional task was assigned to Alter International in March, 2007 for structuring and establishment of ESKI’s GIS based Infrastructure Information System (ESBIS).

Present Population:500.000

Present Water Production: 81.508 m3/day

Present Billed Water consumption:  42.732 m3/day

Water Supply Mains and Distribution Network: App 1100 km (DN100 mm – DN 1200 mm)

Services provided by ALTER;

  • Verification of as built network drawings by using findings of on-site field surveys
  • Formatting and storing collected data in GIS environment
  • Collection and evaluation of operation statistics, flow and pressure measurements, elaboration of long-term supply concept
  • Calibrated hydraulic modeling and re-design of the entire system
  • Tendering (FIDIC RED BOOK) for selective pipe replacement, valves for network zoning, pressure reducing valves and bulk meter installation
  • Supervision of construction works
  • Training of ESKI staff for leakage control
  • Needs assessment for hardware, software and data   transmission equipment
  • SCADA System engineering
  • Preparation of a needs assessment report for rehabilitation of the treatment plant
  • Strengthening of water distribution network operational capacity
  • Establishment of a GIS based Infrastructure Information System
